NFL needs to improve replay policy

By admin | October 30, 2008

Did Adam Jennings of the Atlanta Falcons muff a punt late in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles?

No, he didn’t. So, why was it ruled that he did? The answer to that question is the National Football League has a poor replay policy. Had the play in question been reviewed by the replay official the on field ruling would have been overturned.

The play was not reviewed because the NFL insists on using a ridiculous system in which a coach is only allowed two challenges per game and is only allowed to use them if he has a timeout remaining. This rule applies to all plays that take place prior to the two minute warning of each half.
