Who was more damaging to Fulmer: Saban or Pearl?

The University of Tennessee will have a new head football coach for the first time since 1993. The question is, who was more damaging to Fulmer’s case to stay on as head football coach?

Was it Nick Saban’s success at Alabama which brought UT fans and administration to the realization that Fulmer was not producing up to the standards they would like? Saban became the coach of the Crimson Tide in 2007 and immediately took up the task of resurrecting that program to its previous glory.

Perhaps the Volunteer faithful figured if Saban could turn a struggling team around so quickly, their own struggling program was due for an influx of fresh thinking.
