Rusty Wallace Toyota presents ‘Fan Appreciation Night’ on Friday, June 12 at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Fan Appreciation Night presented by Rusty Wallace Toyota of Morristown is scheduled Friday, June 12 at Volunteer Speedway.

Highlighting the four-division racing program will be Round 4 of “Friday Night Fights” for the “TSC Cars” Super Late Model division, which will pay $3,000-to-win for the 50 lap main event. Also racing will be the Steel-Head Late Model, Fastrak Racing Series-sanctioned “Courtesy Chevrolet” Pro Late Model, and “McDonald’s” Hobby Stock classes.

In Super Late Model action, can four-time track champion Vic “The Thrill” Hill win to make it three straight Friday Night Fights victories? If so, besides the $3,000 winner’s purse he’ll claim the $1,000 “Get Wrapped! - Primetime Designs Challenge” bonus offered by business owner Dean Jones. Primetime Designs is offering any Late Model division (Super Late Model, Steel-Head Late Model or Pro Late Model) racer a $1,000 bonus if they can win three consecutive features.

Prior to the evening of racing, all fans will be allowed to come down onto the front straightaway and into the infield pit area to have a “meet and greet” session with all the drivers and to get an up-close look at the race cars. Drivers’ will have goodies to hand out representing themselves and their sponsors (photos, race cards, keychains, buttons, hats, T-shirts and candy) to the fans. Also for the kids, some drivers will be giving away bicycles.

Throughout the night the track will have many prize giveaways to distribute to lucky fans in attendance.

“Ever since we held our first ‘Fan Appreciation Night’ eight years ago it’s evolved into one of our most anticipated night’s of racing each year,” said track owner Joe Loven. “It’s exciting just sitting up in the grandstands watching the cars race around the high banks, but to get the opportunity to go down on the track and walk around and see how steeply banked the track is … plus getting to look the race cars over and meet the drivers is very special to many people.

“We’ve been having some really good racing this year with the ‘Friday Night Fights’ programs, so everyone who comes out for a night of racing at ‘The Gap’ is really getting to see some exciting dirt-track racing action. Three classes of Late Models along with the Hobby Stocks. We’ve been completing the entire night’s racing program all year by around 11 p.m. We’re doing our best to get the fans, drivers and race teams out of here (track) in a decent hour, all the while putting on one of the most exciting weekly racing programs you’ll find anywhere in the United States.”

The pit gate will open Friday, June 12 at 4 p.m. and the grandstand gate at 5 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be held in the backside pits around 6:30 p.m.

On-track Fan Appreciation Night activities are scheduled to take place for approximately one-hour, from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. After a break to allow everyone to get back up into the grandstands and for the racers to get their cars back up into the outside pits to quickly prepare them for the night of racing, hotlaps are set to begin around 8:15 p.m. to be followed by qualifying and then feature racing action.

Adult grandstand admission on Friday, June 12 for Fan Appreciation Night presented by Rusty Wallace Toyota of Morristown will be $10, youth (ages 13-15) $5, with kids 12-and-under admitted free in the grandstands. Pit passes and backside tier-parking $25.
